For any cool student at San Dieguito Union High School District, there is a great chance that you have received a discount on your Cazaar purchase. However, you can cancel your discount at any time.

Holiday bazaar

Holiday bazaars can be a great way to shop for the holidays and get a discount. Some local organizations hold them to raise money for charity. They are held during the Christmas season and are open to the public. The Colony High School Holiday Bazaar is the biggest one day school Christmas bazaar in the Valley.

Organizers make a lot of planning and preparation for this event. Volunteers are needed to set up and take down tables. Students will be able to purchase holiday gifts for 25 cents per item. If a student wants to bring a family member, they can get a discount. There will also be donation tables where they can select gifts for people.

Students will be able to purchase products made by various groups and clubs at the bazaar. This includes items such as jewelry, candles, photography, and paintings. Vendors are required to meet certain requirements before they can be accepted into the event. Products are limited to handmade crafts, and mass manufactured items are not allowed. During the Holiday Bazaar, students can purchase up to four adult family members, and they can purchase for less than a dollar.

A couple elementary schools also raise money for the Colony Christmas Bazaar. For those looking for something different, there is the Homespun Holiday Bazaar at Butte Elementary. It is held during the first week in December, and is a showcase of local talent. Attendees can also enjoy student performances.

Similarly, the Big Lake Lions Club holds a Christmas bazaar at the East Lake Mall. In addition to the usual crafts, vendors are allowed to sell baked goods. Parents can volunteer to help with this event. Other local organizations also host bazaars during the holiday season, including the Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery, Westford Academy, and the Hospice of Humboldt Thrift Store.

The Close Up program is another popular school bazaar. The bazaar is held at Close Up elementary school and does not charge admission. Money from the sale is divided among student groups such as the Science Olympiad, the Nordic ski team, and Junior ROTC. Those who have interest in helping organize this event can contact math teacher John Nidzgorski. Those who are interested can apply to set up 6 foot tables.

A long time supporter of the Colony Christmas Bazaar is Louise Logan. She owns a small business called Dot's Creations. Her company has made aprons that have reached Michelle Obama, and she has a special interest in supporting students.

Whether you're a student, a parent, or a member of the community, you can help to plan and execute the Colony Holiday Bazaar. Applications for this year's bazaar are due by 4pm Friday, October 14th. You can also apply to be a vendor. Several hundred students attend the event every year.

San Dieguito Union High School District

The San Dieguito Union High School District was in the news recently for several reasons. Not the least of which was the board's decision to replace former superintendent Cheryl James-Ward with a more palatable candidate. Other high-profile controversies include a pending change of venue for the varsity soccer game and allegations that the school has been stingy with student financial aid. While a board-level overhaul is certainly good news for the district's students, it's not the end all be all.

For instance, one of the board's new trustees has a hefty debt load and the district has yet to pay off the mortgage on the campus he built in his spare time. However, the newest member of the SDUHSD brass has made it clear that he's no pushover. As it turns out, he's also the most outspoken board member in the room. Considering his reputation as a hardliner, it's no surprise that he's ruffled more feathers than feathers.

It's not surprising then that the SDUHSD board meeting has become a bloodbath. In fact, it's been nearly eight hours and counting, including one closed-session meeting that lasted nearly as long. To make matters worse, the board's two appoints are rumored to have snubbed a potential partner, and rumors have circulated that a third board member may have a thing or two to tell. Regardless, the board has set the bar high for the rest of the year, and there's a good chance it may be set even higher in the coming months.
